What causes constant dizziness

Some people suffer from intractable dizziness for years, but no amount of checks in hospitals can establish the reason Sometimes dizziness is accompanied by neck stiffness and vision problems.
Dr. Martin Scarr states that the above causes are very typical of a disorder called vestibular migraine. It is a type of migraine, and its main symptom is vertigo, or balance disorder, accompanied by dizziness. Migraine is usually associated with headaches, but sometimes they are not felt by a person at all.
Vestibular migraine has been known since the 19th century, but only a few studies have been conducted, on the basis of which, unfortunately, no clinically approved test has been developed . So, we cannot explain where this condition comes from and how to diagnose it.
With a normal migraine, shortly before the development of headaches, the so-called aura appears, which causes visual disturbances in the form of bright spots. But this aura is not always manifested visually, some people may have hallucinations, for example, a clear sense of a certain smell, or heaviness in one arm.
In vestibular migraine, dizziness occurs even before visual disturbances, and most patients do not experience headaches at all. Heaviness in the hands can move higher up the body and cause, for example, stiffness in the neck.
So, how to deal with this problem? The treatment should be two-fold, firstly, it is medicine for acute attacks, secondly, means for their prevention, which are necessary in the event that the disorder manifests itself more often than twice a week for at least 4 weeks.
< p>The selection of drugs depends on each specific patient and on how long the problems have been observed. Medicines are usually prescribed for protracted attacks to maintain balance, including the structures of the inner ear. These include antihistamines, benzodiazepines, and antiemetics for dizziness, which work by different mechanisms.
They are effective, although benzodiazepines have a risk of drug addiction. If the attacks become more frequent, other medications may be needed to prevent migraines. For example, beta-blockers, which were previously used to treat hypertension, tricyclic antidepressants and anticonvulsants such as topiramate.
