What dishes should not be ordered in a restaurant
There are dishes that you need to keep an eye on, especially if you order them for a child. Experts told which dishes have a high risk of poisoning.
Be careful with seafood, especially those that are served raw. For example, oysters. Their shelf life is very short, and not every institution has the proper conditions. So, ideally, oysters should be alive by the time of cooking and consumed within two hours after opening the shell, while certain storage conditions should be observed. In the heat, they can spoil much faster.
You should be more careful with raw fish dishes – in addition to bacteria, they may contain parasites. Freshwater species of fish and molluscs are especially dangerous in this regard.
Salads with mayonnaise and cakes with cream become dangerous in just a few hours. Even in the refrigerator, it is not recommended to keep them longer than 4-6 hours. If the cakes have been sitting in the window since morning, this is definitely not the best option. It is safe to eat such dishes where they are prepared immediately after ordering. Unseasoned preparation for salad is stored longer, especially if the ingredients are not mixed with each other, so such storage is quite acceptable. If, of course, the workpiece was prepared today.
During the mushroom season, many people rush to try them. But that's a sneaky ingredient in itself. First of all, because many mushrooms require special preparation, and it is almost impossible to check whether the restaurant followed the technology. If you are not familiar with mushrooms, it is better to choose thermally processed dishes.
You should not chase after “wild” mushrooms – farmed ones are usually safer. The fact is that mushrooms actively absorb harmful substances in the place where they grow. In this regard, farm mushrooms are better, because otherwise you cannot be sure that they were not collected along a busy highway or in an environmentally unfavorable area.
Experts gave a few more tips to help protect yourself. First of all, it is better to order popular dishes – if the establishment specializes in kebabs, they will probably be the freshest and well-cooked. Those who often face problems from the gastrointestinal tract and have allergic reactions should not order dishes with unfamiliar ingredients – it is not known how your body will react to them. It is also important to follow the doctor's prescriptions – if you are not allowed to eat fatty foods, you should not be surprised that you feel bad after eating them.
