What does the consumption of dairy products lead to?

According to the results of a study with data from 80 countries, full-fat dairy products are included in the list of six products, the consumption of which is associated with lower mortality.
The inclusion of fatty dairy products in the diet helps protect the body from premature death – this is the conclusion of scientists from the Research Institute of Population Health at McMaster University in Hamilton (Canada).
“Our results show that up to two servings of dairy products per day, mainly full-fat, can be included in a healthy diet,” said the study’s lead author, Dr. Andrew Mente.
According to the expert, it is necessary to reevaluate the recent dietary trend to avoid full-fat dairy products.
The scientists' analysis was based on information obtained during the global PURE research project involving almost 150,000 people from 21 countries. Experts studied information about them collected over 9 years. During the same time, more than 15,000 deaths and more than 40,000 cardiovascular diseases were recorded among the subjects. Scientists analyzed how the nutritional characteristics, diseases and mortality are related in the people being examined. Thus, researchers have determined that the consumption of certain foods correlates with better health, which improves protection against premature death.
Here is what they believe should be included in the “longevity diet”:
- 2-3 servings of fruit per day
- 2-3 servings of vegetables per day
- 3-4 servings of legumes per week
- 7 servings of nuts per week
- 2 to 3 servings of fish per week.
- 14 servings of dairy products (mostly full-fat, but not oil or heavy cream) per week.
Dr. Andrew Mente stated that a healthy diet involves, first of all, the desire to eat more healthy foods, rather than practicing any dietary restrictions. For this reason, you need to eat full-fat dairy products, such as whole milk and cheese.
