Current Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, when interviewing for his first job at the company in the 1990s, faced a question that challenged his professional skills. Then he learned the main trait of successful people.

Nadella in an interview with Chicago Booth Magazine in 2019 admitted that this question caught him off guard. He then replied that he would have run to the nearest phone booth and called 911.
The answer turned out to be incorrect
The interviewer ended the conversation and escorted Nadella to the door. Shocked and confused, Nadella asked what had happened.
The interviewer said, “You need to develop empathy, because when a child cries, you pick them up and hug them,” instead of calling for help.
Despite this setback, Nadella was eventually hired, but the lesson about the importance of empathy stayed with him forever.
