What mistakes lead to the fact that cucumbers “sit in place”

Today, we will tell you what to feed cucumbers to get an active and healthy plant and, in fact, a rich harvest.

It is not uncommon for such a situation to occur when you seem to do everything as you should: you feed with nitrogen fertilizer, but for some reason the cucumbers sit in one place, do not grow, the leaves begin to turn yellow. You look at them, and they are kind of sluggish.

The fact is that cucumbers do not like to grow on acidic soils. And nitrogen fertilizers acidify the soil even more. And now remember that you fertilize the plot with nitrogen year after year, so the soil on it is slowly but surely acidified.

In acidic soil, any garden crops will not grow and develop well.

In order to deacidify it, it is necessary to add chalk, ash or dolomite flour. In general, it is good to apply these drugs in dry form to the beds in the fall.

But if you have not done this, you can apply them now, while the plant is just starting to grow. Such fertilizing should be done twice during the season, with a break of two weeks, at the beginning of plant growth.

  • For this, you need to take 10 liters of warm water and 200 g of chalk. Chalk can be purchased at a gardening store, of course, it is also sold at construction stores, but there may be some impurities.
  • Stir the chalk well in water and let the solution infuse for about 1-2 hours.
  • < li>It is necessary to add 500 ml of this solution under each cucumber bush.

Important! Along with the chalk, no other top dressing can be applied on this day. It is necessary to wait a couple of days and then feed the plants.

This is such a simple but important nuance about deoxidation of the soil that you need to know so that the plants grow quickly and develop well, and as a result pleased us with an early harvest.
