What prevents people from enjoying work? Scientists found out

Psychologists said that the “impostor syndrome” prevents people from enjoying work and being involved in it. This syndrome is manifested by the belief that you do not deserve what you have.
“Impostor syndrome” was associated with both high internal standards, a positive effect of perfectionism, and their inflated expectations for themselves, which is a negative effect of perfectionism.
A series of multiple regression analyses indicated that the impostor phenomenon and inflated expectations are negative predictors of work engagement and subjective well-being for perfectionists,” the researchers reported.
As a result, “impostor syndrome” can even lead to problems communicating with colleagues.
