What products will help support eye health

Eating more fruits and vegetables can protect against eye diseases and improve general health. Experts advise to use foods rich in certain vitamins, minerals and other substances – antioxidants. They help keep cells and tissues healthy.

There are a number of products that can help stop or slow down certain eye diseases, according to experts from the New York State Health Department (USA). Together with the organization Healthy Eyes Alliance, they prepared a list of such products and explained exactly which antioxidants they contain.

Lutein and zeaxanthin

Eggs, leafy greens are rich in them. cabbage, spinach, turnip greens, various types of lettuce, broccoli, zucchini, corn, garden peas, Brussels sprouts.

Vitamin C

This vitamin also helps maintain eye health. Look for it, for example, in sweet bell peppers, spinach, citrus fruits, kiwi, red berries, broccoli.

Vitamin E

Its sources are nuts and whole grains, vegetable oils, some green leafy vegetables, avocados.

Vitamin A and beta-carotene

List of foods that contain these eye-healthy antioxidants, including carrots, sweet potatoes, zucchini, eggs, green leafy vegetables.

Essential fatty acids

For the body to receive them, you need to eat salmon and other fatty sea fish. Essential fatty acids are also found in flax seeds, soybeans, and walnuts.
