Queen Elizabeth II spent her last year at her beloved Balmoral Castle in Scotland. 

After her death in September 2022, her former butler spoke of an interesting habit the monarch picked up during her many years at the castle.

Former royal butler Paul Burrell, who worked with the late Princess Diana for 10 years, revealed one thing Queen Elizabeth II was adamant about during her stay at Balmoral.

“She loved that her bedroom windows were open every night and she could breathe in the fresh mountain air every night. Isn't it ironic that she died there? I mean, she died in a house that she loved, a house that had barely been touched since Queen Victoria lived there 100 years ago and she loved that humble lifestyle. From August to the beginning of October, she never closed her bedroom window,” says Dvoretskyi.
