What should happen to the Arch of Friendship of Peoples: the Institute of Remembrance named several options
The head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, Anton Drobovych, gave an ambiguous statement about what exactly should be done with the Arch of Friendship of Peoples in Kyiv. He believes that it should either be clearly redefined or dismantled.
“It needs to be “broken” with a different meaning, but effectively, and not as, you know, renamed so that half of the announcers and officials cannot read the name of the Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian People without a “paper”. It just doesn't work on face value,” he opines.
The head of the Institute of Memory emphasized that the decision on dismantling remains with the Kyiv City Council, but first this topic should be discussed with experts and citizens.
He himself Drobovych supports both options for the development of events.
