As tempting as it may be to use this space to store all your belongings, some things are better stored somewhere else where they won't be forgotten or ignored.
Director General Ready, Set, FRESH Tina Priestley, along with professional organizers Sarit Weiss and Melanie Summers, voiced this list of items:
Shoes. According to Priestley, hidden shoes under the bed can collect dust and debris. Weiss recommended keeping shoes in a closet or on a shelf near the entrance.
Documents. Experts have warned that documents stored under the bed are more likely to be damaged. Weiss advised to carefully sort through your papers, leave only the necessary documents and store them in a secure drawer.
Unused electronics. According to Summers' recommendation, it is best to store old gadgets in a special drawer for appliances, leaving the space under the bed clean and free.
Seasonal items.Summers noted that storing seasonal items under the bed can lead to dust accumulation. She says it's best to store them in eye-level drawers in the basement, pantry, garage, or other easily accessible location.
Clothes and accessories that are worn often. Such things should be easily accessible. According to Weiss, seasonal clothes are best kept in the closet. Hairpins, jewelry, handbags should also not be left under the bed. In order for them to be ready for use at any time, it is also necessary to allocate space for them in cabinets, on shelves or in drawers, the expert added.
Personal mementos. To ensure the preservation of important memorabilia, you should place them in boxes and allocate a separate shelf for them in the closet.
Leather products. Dust and bacteria accumulate under the bed, which can damage leather goods. According to Priestley, leather can become moldy or crack over time when stored in the wrong place. The best storage place for leather goods can be a closet or a pantry.
