What to do a month before harvesting potatoes so that the tubers have time to fully ripen
1
Many summer residents have found themselves in an unpleasant situation when it is time to harvest potatoes, but the tubers have not yet ripened. In this situation, there is a high risk of crop loss due to diseases that have affected the vegetables. You can, of course, wait and harvest later. However, in this case, another problem may arise – the appearance of sprouts.
So the gardener wants to find a way to carry out the procedure on time and maintain the high quality of the potatoes. And there is a trick that allows you to achieve such a result. True, you will have to work hard long before the summer resident starts collecting tubers.
Mandatory action a month before harvesting
20-30 days before the planned harvest of potatoes, it is necessary to treat the plant with one agent.
This is double superphosphate. Half a kilo of this component must be sent to a bucket and poured with water.
You will get a liquid, drops of which must be poured over the potatoes. The resulting volume should be enough for 100 square meters.
What to do a week before harvesting
It is advisable not to limit yourself to the above-described action. Approximately 7 days before harvesting the tubers, another procedure should be carried out. For example, the gardener should remove the leaves.
Both superphosphate treatment and cutting the tops help increase the rate of potato ripening.
