What to do if there is no greenhouse, but you want early cucumbers or zucchini

You always want much more of your early vegetables than when they are abundant. Of course, you can grow them in a greenhouse or, as an extreme case, plant seedlings on the windowsill. But there is another option – to create a greenhouse effect on a regular bed.

Details

In order for vegetables to yield 1-2 weeks earlier, prepare the soil and plastic bottles. There should be as many of them as the number of holes you are going to sow. For example, for 10 cucumbers, cut the bottoms of ten 1.5 l and ten 5 l bottles.

Now dig up the soil in the places of planned sowing and pour hot water over it. Make a small depression and put 1-2 cucumber or zucchini seeds at a depth of 3-5 cm. Wrap with soil and cover first with a 1.5-liter bottle, but with an open lid, and then a 5-liter bottle (closed). In this way, a greenhouse effect will be created. The seeds will germinate much earlier than those sown in the usual way.

If the weather is warm, open your “greenhouses” during the day and cover them at night. As the leaves grow, cover only with 5-liter bottles. And then you don't have to do it at all, because it will be quite warm outside. Later, the cut bottles are buried with the neck down and used as a watering tank.
