What to do with cucumbers to reduce the appearance of “dead flowers”

Uncontrolled growth of cucumbers on bushes leads to the appearance of a large number of empty flowers, or male shoots. In turn, a bountiful harvest depends on female shoots. They appear exclusively on the lateral parts of the plant.

Thus, pinching a vegetable crop avoids the following problems:
- formation of empty flowers;
- emergence of bitterness in the fruits;
- increase in fruiting.
To prune cucumber plants, simply remove the shoots that extend from the stems.
This should be done when the plants reach a height of 30-60 centimeters. After that, cucumbers should be pruned regularly, approximately every 1-2 weeks.
Forming bushes through regular pruning gives a larger harvest and leads to healthier fruits.
Experienced gardeners advise using garden clamps to “teach” the plant to weave through a net and the like. Thus, you can increase your yield without taking up additional beds.
