What to do with flowers in the garden in October: plants that need to be pruned
1
The autumn gardening period is in full swing. It is necessary to carry out a lot of care procedures for plants. For example, flowers are in line for attention. At the end of September and beginning of October, procedures should be carried out that will help prepare the garden for winter.
What should be done
First of all, you need to cut the ground part of astilbes, peonies, phloxes and irises. If we talk specifically about irises, then they should leave 15 cm.
After pruning, the plants should be treated with a solution of Bordeaux liquid with a concentration of 1%. It is prepared in the following proportions: 1 tsp. spoon per 0.5 l of water.
Gardeners recommend such treatment to be carried out in the spring as well. This will help the plants to reduce the risk of rotting. If desired, treat with phytosporin instead of Bordeaux liquid in the spring.
