What to plant in the place where early radishes are grown

One of the first crops to appear in any garden is radish. It is also one of the first to be harvested from the beds. In order not to leave empty spaces on the site, you can plant other plants in this place.

Details

In this matter, you should follow several rules, otherwise you can inadvertently deplete the soil and not get a good harvest,

1. Since radishes belong to the Cruciferous family, you cannot plant related crops in the place where radishes used to grow. Among them:

  • turnip
  • radish
  • cabbage
  • spinach
  • rutabaga and others.

2. It would not be the best solution to plant carrots as well. Despite the fact that they belong to a different family, these vegetables suffer from the same diseases and require the same nutrients.

3. Excellent “successors” to radishes are tomatoes, peppers or eggplants. In order to have time to harvest the nightshades that were planted after the crunchy root crop, give preference to early-ripening varieties.

4. If you don't suffer from a lack of space in your garden and have already planted the crops listed above, you can sow the vacated area of land with green manure crops that will enrich the soil: clover, lupine, phacelia, cow parsley, and other herbs.
