What violet leaves can be used for rooting?
1
Violets are among those houseplants that are grown just as often as orchids, zamioculcas, spathiphyllum, and other beautiful plants. When people see how beautifully violets can bloom, and much more often than other houseplants, they have an irresistible desire to propagate them.
How to propagate violets
Every florist will tell you that it is easiest to do this with leaves. The question is only in the nuances. They need to be selected correctly from the total mass so that the result is guaranteed.
Inspect the rosette of the violet. Leaves that are soft, spotted or look suspicious should not be taken for germination. A plant from such planting material is unlikely to turn out healthy and strong.
You do not need to take leaves from the bottom row. The one that is closest to the soil. Here you will find only weakened specimens. This is where the most spores of fungi and bacteria are.
It is best to take cuttings from the second or third row for planting. The leaves here are formed, strong, healthy. This is what will be potentially strong enough to grow into a beautiful plant – a new violet.
