When palm oil becomes dangerous to health
1
Palm oil has long been available in different countries around the world. But very little is known about it. So is it still beneficial or harmful to health? And in what cases?
Palm oil is obtained from the pulp of the fruits of the oil palm. Such a food product was known even in Ancient Egypt. It is added to toothpastes, shampoos, candies, and other products. In addition, sometimes palm oil is called vegetable fat, palmitic acid.
Also, when heating oil to 200 degrees Celsius and more, carcinogens are formed. This is worth keeping in mind if you eat fast food, because sometimes the owners of such restaurants heat the oil very much when deep-frying.
Palm oil is also harmful to the environment. This is explained by the fact that oil palms can only grow in the tropics. Therefore, forests need to be cut down to produce palm oil. This also harms the animals that live in these areas.
Oil palms can be found in Africa and Southeast Asia. Labor exploitation, including child labor, is widespread in these regions.
