Green manures help to do most of the work of improving the condition of the soil after the season. If you have tomatoes growing in a greenhouse, then you also need the strength of this plant.
When to sow green manures
When the tomato season is over, you need to move on to soil cultivation. And in this case, after harvesting the tomato tops, you can proceed to sowing phacelia.
If you sow the beds in early October, by mid-November they will rise by about 20 cm. This is enough to make it work its way into the soil, where it will rot, increase the amount of organic matter in it, and also improve the structure.
Phacelia has another big plus. This crop suppresses the growth of weeds. Great news for anyone who doesn't want to waste energy on weeding. So, after sowing phacelia, you can dig it up 4-6 weeks later. The beds in the greenhouse will then be well prepared for the next season.
