When will blackout schedules return in Ukraine: DTEK has named the dates

Energy experts predict a return to limiting consumption when the daylight hours become shorter, as well as when Ukrainians start turning on the heaters.

“The situation in the energy sector has somewhat improved, so now there are no outage schedules. This became possible thanks to the partial restoration of generation and the decrease in air temperature. It is possible to do without blackouts until mid-October, if there are no new attacks on energy facilities or abnormal heat,” the message reads.

However, DTEK warned that consumption restriction schedules may remain relevant at least until end of the next heating season.

Energy experts also emphasized that with the onset of cold weather, the load on the power system will increase. This is due to the fact that consumers will begin to use electric heating more actively, and the dark time of the day in winter comes earlier, which increases the consumption of electricity.

Therefore, according to representatives of DTEK, NEC “Ukrenergo” may again be forced to introduce limits on electricity consumption, which will lead to the return of blackout schedules.

The company reminded that the situation in Ukraine's energy system remains difficult due to the loss of more than 9 gigawatts of capacity during Russian attacks. DTEK was urged to prepare for possible restrictions now.

Ukrenergo stated that on Monday, August 12, blackouts throughout Ukraine are not planned. At the same time, do not use powerful electrical appliances from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

We would like to remind you that on July 23, DTEK Executive Director Dmytro Saharuk advised Ukrainians to “rely on themselves” when it comes to preparing for winter.
