Where is it better to live for the psyche: in the city or in the countryside?

There is an opinion that life in the countryside is calmer, and therefore a person will feel better there, including mentally. However, American scientists have provided different data.
The authors of a new scientific paper studied the data of two large longitudinal studies of US residents. They presented their findings in the Journal of Personality. They were interested in the differences between urban and rural residents in terms of well-being and the Big Five personality traits (extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience).
It turned out that rural residents have lower levels of openness, conscientiousness, and psychological well-being. They also have higher levels of neuroticism than urban residents. This may be due to a lack of access to psychological help.
