Parents often come to flower and gardening stores. Some go for seeds, care products, new pots, plants, but there is always an attractive window with cacti. They are so beautifully displayed with flowers that children often ask for such a prickly and beautiful green friend for themselves. It seems like there is nothing special about buying a small cactus or other succulent. However, in terms of a children's plant, they may not be at all like that.
What succulents are not bought for children's rooms
Haworthia
Buying succulents is a very responsible matter. You need to understand what you are buying for your child and why. Most succulents are dangerous, and not just very prickly plants. Categorically cross out the following varieties:
- euphorbia;
- sansevieria;
- zoophorbia;
- goddess.
These four plants are poisonous, so look for another and safer option for plants. In particular, the following will be too prickly:
- mammillaria;
- ferocactus;
- opuntia;
- agave;
- gasteria.
Balda's Gymnocalycium
For cultivation, it is recommended to choose varieties that will attract attention with bright needles, flowers, and the appearance of fluff on the surface of the plant. Among the interesting and safe varieties, you should choose the following:
- gymnocalycium;
- astrophytum;
- myriostigma;
- haworthia;
- faucaria.
Be careful when choosing. This is not a toy, but a plant. It requires attention and care. In particular, having a succulent or other plant is the development of responsibility.
