Dr. nutritionist Michael Mosley (Great Britain) warns about the dangers of using many types black bread, which is due to its ability to increase the level of sugar in the blood.
Blood sugar performs important functions in the body, but it must be regulated – an increased level of glucose can cause irreversible damage to the eyes, nerves, kidneys, and blood vessels. If a person has type 2 diabetes, his diet is especially important, since the choice of products has the most significant effect on the sugar content in the body.
It is extremely important for diabetics to control or even avoid the consumption of carbohydrate products with a high glycemic index. (GI), since the carbohydrates obtained from them are quickly broken down by the body and sharply increase the level of glucose in the blood. One of the popular foods with a high glycemic index is white bread, as well as baking from white flour in general.
There is an opinion that it is better to replace white bread with black bread, which causes a slower rise in blood sugar and therefore more useful Nutritionist Michael Mosley is very skeptical of this theory: in his opinion, the consumption of this product is by no means safe in modern realities.
“You should be careful when buying black bread – some of its types are actually disguised white bread with added dyes,” the doctor quotes.
In addition, Dr. Mosley advises to completely reduce the use of cakes, sweets, cookies, chips, fruit juices, and soft drinks. These products quickly increase the concentration of sugar in the blood, contribute to weight gain.
