Why do scientists consider daily consumption of white bread dangerous?

According to scientists, daily consumption of bread and other products made from white flour is an extremely dangerous habit for the heart, which increases a person's susceptibility to a heart attack.

Research has shown that the daily consumption of a large amount of white bread and other bakery and pasta products made from white flour is associated with an increased risk of developing dangerous heart pathologies, including heart attacks.

“In people who consume more than 350 grams of white flour products per day, the risk of premature death from the consequences of heart disease is 27% higher than in those who eat less 50 grams of such products,” scientists state.

Why do they consider daily consumption of white bread, toast, bagels and pasta dangerous for the heart? The researchers evaluated the data of almost 150,000 participants from 21 countries: their eating habits and health status were analyzed for an average of 9.5 years. Experts have found that an increase in the amount of white flour products consumed by a person is clearly associated with an increase in blood pressure.

Bread, pizza and dumpling dough, hamburger buns or pancakes: products made from refined grains are devoid of nutrients and fiber-rich grain components. Thus, white bread and other similar products are deprived of vitamins and minerals, giving the body only “empty” calories. This puts a strain on the blood sugar balance, causing it to rise rapidly. In turn, a high level of sugar thickens the blood, contributes to impaired blood supply, pathologically affects the state of vascular tissues, making them prone to damage and the development of atherosclerosis.

Experts recommend minimizing the content of white flour products in the diet.
