Our body needs many nutrients, macro- and microelements, vitamins and minerals. Each of them is important for the proper functioning of all prosecutor's offices and systems. Particular attention should be paid to magnesium. Why it is important to monitor its level in the body and where to “get” it from, we tell in our article.
Why magnesium is needed
Magnesium has many useful functions. It is involved in the processes of muscle relaxation and contraction and, accordingly, is important during physical exercises. Magnesium helps glucose move to the muscles and remove lactate from them, which is formed during exercise, and also reduces the frequency and intensity of migraine attacks and leg cramps.
Magnesium takes an active part in enzymatic reactions , improving digestion and facilitating the digestion of food, effectively protects against stress — inhibits the processes of excitation in the central nervous system, which allows you to react more calmly to nervous shocks.
Magnesium participates in energy and electrolyte metabolism, helps maintain the correct water balance in the body. It helps transport nutrients to cells, helps regulate blood glucose levels, and normalizes blood pressure.
Where to find it
Magnesium is easily obtained from food. Pumpkin seeds, spinach, beet tops, dark chocolate, black beans, quinoa, halibut, almonds and cashews contain the most valuable mineral. Nevertheless, it is not easy to build a balanced diet rich in all the necessary substances. Dietary supplements will help to avoid magnesium deficiency here.
In no case should you engage in self-medication and self-prescribe supplements – this can lead to unpleasant consequences. If you want to take magnesium in dietary supplements, consult a doctor: he will conduct all the necessary tests and prescribe an individual dosage. If internal intake is undesirable, for example, in case of digestive disorders, you can use an aqueous solution of magnesium chloride, which is rubbed into the skin or added to baths.
