Why does Kalanchoe purchased at a flower shop not bloom at home?
1
Many are familiar with a similar situation. In a store, a plant in a pot is so attractive, beautiful, even luxurious, but at home after a few months it loses its beauty, magnificence, especially flowering. For example, from Kalanchoe you expect a bush with green leaves and a cap of flowers, but it stretches out, the lower leaves fall off, the stem becomes bare.

Why the plant loses its beautiful appearance
Store flowers are so beautiful because they are on stimulants. The commercial appearance comes first. Another interesting fact. They do not always sell a plant that will be able to grow and bloom for many years. They often sell annuals that would be more suitable for planting in a flower bed, rather than in a pot in a room.
What can be done
If there are certain difficulties with the purchased plant, you need to understand that there will be a transition period. Kalanchoe needs to be provided with suitable growing conditions for it. In this case, it can adapt more easily, not lose green mass and even bloom:
Lighting. Kalanchoe needs sunlight. An important point: the plant perceives it only in the morning. If there is enough light, the leaves are green. With a deficiency, the shoots are stretched out, and the leaves turn pale, flowering does not occur.
Temperature. It should not be higher than +27 degrees. It likes coolness, but not cold. Kalanchoe does not tolerate drafts.
Watering. Stagnation of water leads to rotting. In winter, water 2-3 times a week, and in winter once a week is enough. Kalanchoe does not like spraying.
Fertilizer. Be careful with the amount of nitrogen. If there is a lot of it, the leaves become fleshy and large. With an excess of nitrogen, flowering does not occur. With an excess of phosphorus, the lower leaves fall off, and the rest turn yellow. With a phosphorus deficiency, flowering ends faster than it should. Curved leaves indicate a potassium deficiency. Fertilization regimen. Fertilizers are needed for succulents. They are applied from mid-spring to mid-autumn once every two weeks. Use ½ the dose indicated on the package.
