There are at least a few good answers.
Every Ukrainian should know them in order to communicate correctly and preserve the authenticity of their native language. One such example is the correct use of the words apology, which are often confused due to the influence of the Russian-speaking environment. The well-known Ukrainian linguist Oleksandr Avramenko told about it.
How to ask for forgiveness in Ukrainian: several options
The Ukrainian language is rich in expressions that help express your feelings and intentions. When it comes to apologizing, there are several correct forms that should be used instead of the common but incorrect phrase “I'm sorry”.
The correct Ukrainian equivalents are “pereprushyu”, “pardon me”, “give me” and “pardon me”. . These words are not only grammatically correct, but also carry a deeper meaning, reflecting respect for the interlocutor and the sincerity of the intentions of the person asking for forgiveness.
Why is “I'm sorry” considered incorrect? The thing is that this word contains the former pronoun -sya, which is a form of “self”. Like the words “wash” or “scratch”, “apologise” literally means an action directed at oneself. That is, by using this word, a person seems to forgive himself, and not ask for forgiveness from the interlocutor.
It is worth noting that the correct use of words of apology is not just a matter of grammar. It is also a reflection of the culture of communication and mutual respect. When we say “I'm sorry” or “forgive me”, we admit our mistake and ask the interlocutor for forgiveness. This form of apology is more sincere and effective in communication.
