But even a small reduction in the intensity of their use already has a positive effect on a person's well-being.
Previous studies have also shown that active use of smartphones is associated with obesity, neck pain, impaired work capacity and the formation of mental addiction. And now German scientists wanted to find out what period of smartphone use is dangerous for health. And would our lives really be better if we cut back on these gadgets.
They recruited 619 people, dividing them into three groups. In the first 200 participants gave up smartphones altogether for a whole week, in the second 226 people reduced their use by one hour per day, and in the third control group 193 participants did not change their relationship with the smartphone in any way. It turned out that the participants of the first and second groups had a positive effect. But where the smartphone was not completely abandoned, this effect lasted longer and showed greater stability.
