Why men choose women who look like their mothers

You are very similar in appearance with her husband's mother? Do you even have similar personal qualities? Don't worry, you are not alone. It turns out that it is quite typical for a man to date someone who looks like his mother. I wonder why? Scientists tried to answer this question.
At the University of Turku in Finland, a study was conducted among 70 married men and women. The scientists compared the faces of each person's partner to their parents, but only of the opposite sex. The results were quite interesting. Researchers have found that women's husbands are absolutely not like their parents. However, men have a high chance of ending up with women who “much” resemble their mothers. Of course, it's a little unsettling at first. But, according to scientists, there is nothing unnatural about the fact that men are attracted to women who look like their mothers.
Evolution and natural selection have prepared humans in advance to find partners belonging to the same group of species. And a man's first and closest acquaintance is his mother, which is why she becomes a template to which they naturally gravitate.
With dads, however, this does not work. No matter how devoted they are and no matter how much time they spend with their family, a father simply does not leave the same imprint on his daughters' preferences.
It is also worth considering that the connection between mother and son is not limited to aesthetics. Although Sigmund Freud's idea of the Oedipus complex has been largely dismissed by psychologists, a man's relationship with his mother continues to play an important role in how he interacts with women in adulthood, according to Michael Kimmel, an American sociologist who specializes in gender studies.
What is the best foundation for healthy relationships in life? Kimmel believes that such a base is a close and affectionate mother-son bond.
However, it can also work in the opposite direction. This means that if a guy had a strained relationship with a mother who behaved aloof and superior, then he may unconsciously look for a woman with exactly the same behavior. Why? But because he will try to “fix” the broken mother-son relationship he had in his childhood. Usually, nothing comes of this, but judging by the analysis of the statements of users of social networks, this phenomenon is not so rare.
