Why nettle infusion is “the best fertilizer for the garden and vegetable garden”

Nettle is not only a weed, but also a valuable and free fertilizer for the garden and vegetable garden, which you can easily prepare yourself. This green fertilizer contains almost the entire Mendeleev table, and feeding will be equally good for poor plant growth and for various plant diseases.

This fertilizer is suitable for almost any crop, except legumes, onions and garlic, which are suppressed by nettles. Nettle is used in the form of an infusion, which is supplemented with various ingredients to enhance the effect. There are many recipes for such an infusion, we will give one, the simplest and most tested:

Nettle shoots are poured into a bucket so that the container is filled more than half. It is important that there should be no seeds on the shoots. Iron containers are not suitable, because the infusion will react with it, and many benefits will be destroyed.

After that, the container is filled with warm water so as to cover the leaf mass, but not to the top of the container, and after covering with a lid, leave to infuse for about 14 days. The solution is stirred daily. The infusion is ready when it stops foaming and darkens. This fertilizer is used by diluting 1:10 with clean water. For foliar fertilizing, dilute more strongly – 1:20.

Experienced gardeners have noticed that tomatoes can fatten up from the introduction of nettle infusion, going to the tops. So that this does not happen, it is necessary to feed the plants with superphosphate. You can also add a glass of ash to a bucket of solution.

In cucumbers, nettle infusion produces a lot of ovaries and the crop ripens faster. Therefore, after fertilizing, the crop must be harvested daily. Other vegetables also respond favorably to such feeding and give a rich harvest.

It is only necessary to consider that green fertilizers are best used during rapid growth. But when fruiting begins, it is better to refrain from such feedings so that the plants do not go to the tops.
