Looking for a mate: Why it's such a difficult process full of failures
Have you ever thought that , maybe you set the bar or expectations too low? Sometimes it can happen that out of fear of being alone, or perhaps because you place more value on some characteristics than others (like figure vs. personality), you end up adopting habits that hurt relationships and make you unhappy.
Psychologist and relationship expert Mark Travers shared a list of the most common questions that tend to cause problems and confirm that standards have reached rock bottom.
For example , it should not be considered the norm that in a relationship you should make all the sacrifices, while your partner does nothing. This is the biggest proof that she is not your soul mate and that you will not be happy now or in the future.
Nor should you expect, that your partner will changeto the version you have in your head, or to believe that you can change them, especially regarding toxic behaviors. It doesn't work that way in real life, and while you wait for a change that will never happen, you're missing out on finding someone you're truly compatible with.
Another reason for problems in finding a soulmate is that you accept the minimum, although you deserve the maximum. You are used to always forgiving, justifying everything negative and downplaying the problems that actually make you unhappy.
All these things combine to give you a relationship that is neither healthy nor at least what it should be if you really share your destiny with someone who loves you and intends to spend the rest of your life with you.
So the next time you meet someone, raise your expectations. Maybe your soulmate won't show up in the next 10 minutes (or maybe they will), but when you meet someone special, you'll know for sure it was worth it.
