Why you should not skip breakfast during a diet

Skipping breakfast while dieting has been shown to be harmful to the immune system. Scientists have warned that the “most important meal” should be regardless of the diet.
In particular, the researchers studied intermittent fasting. They were interested in both short-term (just a few hours) and long-term (24 hours) food deprivation.
Two groups of mice participated in the experiment. One group ate breakfast immediately after waking up. The other skipped this meal completely. The scientists then collected blood samples from all the rodents.
The team observed differences in the group that skipped breakfast. They noticed changes in the number of monocytes, white blood cells produced in the bone marrow that enter the blood and tissues, helping to fight infections, heart disease and even cancer.
