Why you shouldn't drink coffee right after a meal: a doctor explains

Dietitian Monika Bischoff (Germany) warns against drinking coffee after a meal.

Many people drink coffee right after a meal, for example, at breakfast, but the doctor explains that this is a bad habit.

“If you need a hot drink after a meal, don't rush to drink coffee, its stimulating components can harm the body,” said Monika Bischoff in an interview.

The doctor warns that the tannin contained in in coffee, can interfere with the absorption of valuable iron from some consumed products, in particular, from fruits and vegetables. Tannin binds iron in the stomach and directly removes it from the body. Thus, the body is deprived of the opportunity to absorb a very important trace element for it, which is involved in many vital processes, hematopoiesis.

Doctor's advice: “do not drink coffee at least 30 minutes before and after meals.”
