Women in the register of conscripts: the lawyer explained whether there is a threat of mobilization

Women have the right to voluntarily mobilize in the Armed Forces. However, those with certain medical or technical professions must still register for the military.

Levchenko explained that Law No. 1951-VIII “On the Unified State Register of Conscripts, Conscripts and Reservists” has been in force in Ukraine since 2017. Amendments have been made to this law — the relevant normative legal act No. 3549-IX is effective from April 4, 2024. In the text of the document, there is article 13, which explains how the register is formed – it is there that women are included in the general list.

The text of the law indicates that the register receives data from the tax and migration services about all citizens of Ukraine of conscription age — from 18 to 60 years old. The gender of citizens is not indicated, that is, there are surnames of both women and men. However, after that, the next step is taken: the names of those who are absolutely not conscripts, conscripts, or reservists will be removed from it. That is, the data of women who do not belong to these categories are deleted from the register, the lawyer said. All current information is provided to this register. Then it is all compared – does a person have any of the above statuses. If not, then this data is deleted. If the woman is not a reservist, conscript or conscript, then her data will be deleted from this register. Please don't be fooled by these myths,” Levchenko explained the situation with the register of conscripts.
