Women suffer from headaches more often than men

Women suffer more often than men from headaches – in some cases, 15 days a month. This is the conclusion reached by scientists from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
Researchers from Norway found that women of the fairer sex suffer from headaches much more often. As many as 6% of women or one in twenty face these pains for two weeks a month.
In contrast, only 2.9% of men will lead such a painful life. A global review of headache problems also found that women are twice as likely to experience migraines.
It was found that 17% of women suffer from migraines at some point in their lives, which can last up to three days in a row, lead to nausea and increased sensitivity to light and sounds.
But only 8.6% of men experience these very painful symptoms. One of the reasons for such gender inequality may be changes in hormones, which women are more prone to. Significant fluctuations in estrogen can trigger headaches.
The authors of this observation conducted a meta-analysis of 357 studies on headaches from the 1960s to the present day. It was established that on any given day on our planet every sixth inhabitant has headaches.
